Thursday 06 December 2018, 08:30am - 12:00pm

How does Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment impact your companies? Why phase down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and what do you need to do for compliance?

With these questions in mind, we are pleased to invite you and your company / organisation to this seminar which is jointly organised by the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM), 3M and also the Department of Environment (DOE). Details of the seminar are as follows:

Date:   December 6, 2018 (Thursday)
Time:   8.30 a.m. – 12.00 p.m.
Venue: Wisma FMM, No. 3, Persiaran Dagang, PJU 9, Bandar Sri Damansara, 52200 Kuala Lumpur

The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is an international treaty designed to protect Earth’s ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion. As a result of the international agreement, the ozone hole in Antarctica is slowly recovering. Climate projections indicate that the ozone layer will return to 1980 levels between 2050 and 2070. All United Nations countries have ratified the agreement.

Due to the success of the Montreal Protocol, the Kigali amendment was finally ratified in 2016 to phase down the powerful climate-warming pollutants called hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under the Montreal Protocol. This agreement establishes timetables for all developed and developing countries (including Malaysia) to freeze and then reduce their production and use of HFCs, chemicals used in air conditioning, refrigeration, insulating foams, and other applications.

The seminar programme is attached for your reference. It will feature speakers from DOE and 3M sharing the following topics:

  • Montreal Protocol (Kigali Amendments) obligations by Malaysia: by En Salahudin b Sidek, Air Division, DOE
  • Global Approach on Montreal Protocol (Kigali Amendment): by Mr Kurt Werner, Global Government & Regulatory Affairs Manager, 3M

Participation is free and by prior registration with the CICM Secretariat (limited to 3 participants per company) using the registration format below. Please register by November 26, 2018 (Monday) and registration form could be downloaded HERE
